ABOUT SHORE PROGRESS

Shore Progress is a grassroots organization serving all nine counties of Maryland's Eastern Shore: Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester. We are dedicated to building power from the ground up through civic engagement, community-based organizing, policy advocacy, and electoral action. We serve as a political home for progressives across the Shore—connecting individuals, training leaders, and supporting bold solutions to the most pressing challenges facing our communities.

 

Our organization was born out of the political urgency following the 2016 presidential election. In early 2017, a small group of local activists launched what would become the Wicomico Progressive Caucus. By summer, the group expanded its geographic scope and rebranded as the Lower Shore Progressive Caucus (LSPC), serving four counties and rapidly growing in influence. Over the next seven years, LSPC helped elect more than 55 progressive officials, passed impactful legislation on housing and the environment, and built a sturdy volunteer-led infrastructure. In 2024, the organization expanded to all nine counties of the Eastern Shore, rebranding as Shore Progress to reflect a broader, more inclusive mission. As part of this evolution, we added new committees, launched a Regional Advisory Board, recruited an Operations Lead, and refined our organizing tools. Today, Shore Progress continues to grow as a force for justice, equity, and accountability.
